I joined the school in November 2012 and I have seen many changes since then. I am excited by the challenge of working in a school which has very recently become an academy. I am on the gate at the start and the end of the school day, so please do make contact, if, and when, you need to.
I aim to engage with parents, carers and extended family to promote the school as a positive place for everyone. Through breaking down barriers, being approachable and being empathetic, I hope to gain trust within the family unit. Parents will hopefully be able to see the rewards of joint positive efforts and support through various initiatives, interventions and meetings.
It is the school’s aim to support parents to improve their children’s behaviour and attendance. Through positive engagement I am able to gain a better understanding of the reasons for certain behaviours or poor attendance, and as a result hope to encourage those children into school and improve their behaviours around school and at home. I hope to do this by working closely with the family, having good strategies in place and encouraging parents to access support when needed.
I aim to facilitate engagement with, and work alongside, a wide variety of outside agencies to improve positive and helpful life chances of all our families and those within this local community. I work closely with families to signpost relevant organisations or agencies.
I strive to bring this community together to make it a place to be proud to live in and want to be part of.
I will put useful documents and links to websites below, they may be helpful to you with healthy eating ideas and suggestions, and with year group and school changes ('Transition').
Change for Life
These days, ’modern life’ can mean that we’re a lot less active. With so many opportunities to watch TV or play computer games, and with so much convenience and fast food available, we don’t move about as much, or eat as well as we used to, the Change of Life website has lots of helpful information.
