Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Teacher - Miss McAuley / Mrs Fowler

If you are looking to catch up or further your studies over the summer, please find below some useful links:

Purple Mash Summer Learning

We know the children have loved using Purple Mash during lockdown.  Therefore we will be continuing to use Purple Mash over the summer holidays. Follow the link above and select your child's age group to find a range of relevant and fun activities for them to complete.

Oak National Academy Home Learning

Please find your child's year group and feel free to complete the Maths and English tasks. Click on the lesson, complete the quizzes and tasks by following the instructions at the bottom of each page. There are also foundation subjects which you can choose to complete if you would like to further your understanding in these areas.

If you are unsure of which units to cover, please look at the previous home learning units set (these can be found below - keep scrolling down).  This will ensure that your child has covered all of the curriculum for their year group before September.

Times tables

It is imperative that your child knows their times tables before starting their new year group.

Reading

Reading is a key skill and we would encourage children to read books, magazines, blogs and other relevant material over the summer holidays to widen their vocabulary and improve their fluency.  We would love it if parents could use the prompt sheet (see link below) to ask their child about what they have been reading.

Previous units of work

Home Learning - Week beginning 13th July 2020:

As it is the last week of term and the pupils have ALL worked so hard, we have decided to let the children choose their own learning task this week.  Many pupils have been telling us that they have been building birdboxes, coding, learning a new instrument and many other exciting activities.  Therefore, your teachers would LOVE to give you the opportunity to refine and develop these skills further.  Please email your activity of choice to your class teacher so we can share in your new hobby / skill.

Home Learning - Week beginning 6th July 2020:

For home learning this week, please write down as many positive comments about members of your class as you can and email them to year6@royalriseprimary.kent.sch.uk.  If you haven't completed the voting for 'Most likely to' awards, please complete this and email it in.

We will be using these quotes in our production and leavers assembly.

Home Learning - Week beginning 29th June 2020:

Please complete the Maths and English daily tasks from the Oak National Academy or bitesize.
